Google’s Gemini AI Now Uses Your Search History for Personalization

Google has rolled out an update to its AI chatbot, Gemini, enhancing personalization by leveraging your Google search history and app data. Similarly, OpenAI’s ChatGPT also utilizes user interactions to refine its responses, though it does not directly access search history or external app data.

With the new Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking Experimental model, Google’s AI can analyze your past searches to provide more relevant recommendations for restaurants, travel, and other interests. This feature also extends to YouTube and will soon integrate with Google Photos, allowing for a more tailored user experience.

To enable this personalized functionality, users must grant Gemini permission to access their search history and app data. Google emphasizes that this feature is optional, and users can opt out at any time. Additionally, Gemini offers insights into how it uses personal data, ensuring transparency in its operations.

Similarly, ChatGPT delivers personalized responses based on ongoing conversations, learning from user input within a single chat session but without retaining long-term data. While Gemini integrates deeply with Google’s ecosystem, ChatGPT focuses on interactive learning without persistent data tracking.

Both AI models aim to enhance user experience through customization, but Gemini relies on Google’s vast data ecosystem, while ChatGPT refines its responses based on real-time interactions.
